Despite the uncertainties which are inevitable in reconstructions, they offer an excellent method for conveying an impression of the original appearance of a Roman building.
The view of the southern front of the living quarters with an open stairway leading up to the Porticus shows this clearly. The colonnade formerly continued to the left side of the stairs as well. The cellars under the Porticus which could be reached only via stairs can be seen here as the lowest floor.
The distance from one corner of a corner tower to the other was 45 meters (150 feet), with the total constructed area being 1600 m² (17222 ft²).
